Door handles are a prominent design feature in any project and EUROART appreciates the importance in choosing the right handle to suit your design, specification and budget.

The EUROART range of a stainless steel door furniture is ideal for the majority of applications, suitrable for us in contract, public, commercial, institutional and residential buildings . Characteristics such as longevity and corrosion resistance have established stainless steel as popular material in the manufacture of architectural fitings.

The EUROART series fo lever furniture is a wide selection of excellent value stainless steel sprung and unsprung handles, ideal for all projects where design or quality cannot be compromised. The EUROART series of lever furniture is a range of premium,tubular & solid stainless steel furniture with metal cassette construction tested to 200,000 cycles.

EUROART also offer a range of stainless steel pull handles and stainless steel accessories.

Features & Functions

The following diagram gives an overview of the main features and functions of EUROART stainless steel lever handle.

Sprung

Lever handles that are spring loaded.This will enable the handle to return to the horizontal position after use, independent of any spring action in the lock.

UnSprung

Handles that operate without the assistance of aspring,but rely on the sprung follower within the lock case to retun to the horizontal position

Non Handed

All EUROART stainless steel door furniture is nonhanded,meaning the product can be used universall on either the l

BS EN 1906 Lever handles and knob furniture

BS EN 1906 classifies door furniture by using an 8 digit coding system. A similar classification applies to all building Hardware product standard so that complemantry items of hardware can be specified to, for instance, a common level of corrosion resistance, category of use, etc. Each digit refers to a particular feature of the product measure against the standard's performance requirements.


1. Category of Use

Four grades are identified:


Grade 1

Medium frequency of use with a high incentive to exercise care and a small chance of misuse, Eg: Internal residential doors

Grade 2

Medium frequency of use by people with some incentive to execise care but where there is some chance of misuse. Eg: Internal office doors;

Grade 3

High fruquency of use by public or others with title incentive to exercise care and with a high chance of misuse, Eg: Public office doors

Grade 4

High frequency of use on doors which are subject to frequent violent use. Eg: Football stadiums, Oils rigs, Barracks, Public toilets, etc

2. Durability

Two grades of durability are identified


Grade 1

Medium use - 100000 cycles

Grade 2

High use - 200000 cycles


The tests undertaken to acheive these grade involve the application addtional forces to the door furniture in order to simulate the condition of use likely to be experinced in yhe field.

3. Test Door Mass

No Requirement

4. Fire Resistence

Two grades of fires resistance are identified:

Grade 1

Not approved for use on fire /smoke door assemblies

Grade 2

Suitable for use on fire/smoke door assemblies

Note: Grade 1 classification means only that the furniture has been designed for use on fire/smoke control doors; the actual fire performance acheived (Eg: fire integrity of 30 mnutes on a partially glazed timber door etc.) will be contained in a seprate fire test report.

5. Safety

Two grades of safety are identified:

Grade 1

Normal Use

Grade 2

Safety Application - to qualify for this grade, hanles must have high strength handle-to plate and plate-to handle door fixing and /or handle -to spindle fixing such as would withstand a person grabbing in order to prevent falling. it is recommended that only safety furniture is used at the top of celler steps or others staircases.

Note: Grade 1 classification means only that the furniture has been designed for use on fire/smoke control doors; the actual fire performance acheived (Eg: fire integrity of 30 mnutes on a partially glazed timber door etc.) will be contained in a seprate fire test report.

6. Corrosion resistance

Four grades are identified according to EN 1670:

Grade 0

No Deined Corrosion Resistance

Grade 1

Mild Resistance- minium requirement for internal use

Grade 2

Moderate Resistance

Grade 3

Very High Resistance - recommended for use in exposed marine atmosphere or very pooluted industrial environments.

Note: Products intended to devlop a natural patina(such as bronze or brass)are not required to comply with any requirements.

7. Security

Five grades are identified:

Grade 0

Not approved for use on burglary resistant doors

Grade 1

Mild burglary resistant

Grade 2

Moderate burglary resistance

Grade 3

Hhigh Burglary resistance

Grade 4

Extra High Burrglary Resistance

Note: The main requirement include resistance to drilling, close fitting plates or escutcheons to help protect the lock and support the cylinder. they must be resistant to removal from the outside of the door and make provision to minimise the cylinder projection to a maximum of 3mm. full details of the requirement can be found in BS EN 1960.
